I spoke with my neighbors who have been considering xeriscaping the other day and this is what they had to say. Xeriscaping can be pretty.

Get rid of many of the grassy areas in your yard. Grass is high water use, even the low water use grass uses a lot of water.

Use drip irrigation. Plant plants that don't need a lot of water.

Use local plants. There have been pretty plants growing on the side of the road that can give you ideas.
